Mazindol LOSE-IFA is used to treat obesity at any stage. It’s a powerful drug with anorexigenic effect. It’s prescribed as a short course of treatment, either alone or as a supplement to a low-calorie diet and exercise. Can be used to combat overweight, if the problem is caused by neurogenic or endocrine disorders, as well as long-term admission of hormones.
Composition and product form
The active ingredient of the drug is mazindol. According to its chemical structure, it is a sympathomimetic amine. The properties of the compound are close to those of amphetamine. In the USA and Mexico, the appetite suppressant is available in the form of tablets of 30 pieces in a package.
Two dosages are possible:
- Mazindol 1 mg;
- Mazindol 2 mg.
Spent active substance is excreted mainly through the kidneys with the urine.
Principle of action in the body
The active substance enters the systemic bloodstream through the digestive tract. Mazindol affects directly the cardiovascular system and the CNS. Against the background of taking mazindol 2mg:
- The transmission of nerve impulses is partially blocked;
- Activates the satiety center located in the hypothalamus;
- Blocks the reuptake of the hormones adrenaline and serotonin;
- Increases heart rate;
- Blood pressure rises.
Systematic taking of the pills causes false satisfaction of the hunger center. The patient's appetite decreases; as a consequence, the patient reduces portions and chooses less caloric foods. Gradually, the correct eating behavior takes hold. The weight continues to decrease even after the treatment has ended. In addition, due to the effect on the endocrine system provides a moderate antidepressant effect.
